Our Work
Project-
Kick-Back
In 2023, we collaborated with Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) on “Project Kick-Back”. This initiative sought to bolster the empowerment of girls and women in the Maldives, enabling them to effectively combat gender-based violence.
This was achieved primarily via ‘Self-Defense Classes’ that aimed to equip our participants with essential techniques (and the confidence) to prevent, resist, and escape various forms of assault and abuse. Instructors, trained by the psychologists who curated the program, guided participants through practical self-defense skills and safety strategies that could make a real difference in their everyday lives.
These were coupled with specialized ‘Psychological Awareness Sessions’ that gave valuable insights into Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Inclusive of individuals of all genders—including girls, boys, women, and men—participants gained understanding of the nature of GBV, garnered access to valuable tools and resources, and developed effective techniques to counteract and respond to Gender-Based Violence and abuse.
